The Core Values Of My Life

At different points in my career, my values played an important part. Sometimes, during a certain period of my life, many of my values work. As an example, I was involved in school sports. I was a swimmer in my ITE days. I was influenced by my freshman friends to join the team. The team I joined will be more demanding than I anticipated. There will be two practice hours per day and they may even be extended. Every Friday, we follow our forward.

The training occurs every Friday at 7pm and on Wednesdays. Due to participating in school competitions, it is not uncommon for the swimming practice to last three days. In this situation, I was able to use one of the values that I hold dear. Sincerly, I’ll be tired for several days. Often it’s a result of a long work week. It’s been a season where I haven’t decided if I would rather go to the regatta weekend or practice on certain days. I know that there will be rough patches, but I don’t wish to go through them again. But one of my core principles will work. Commitment. It is important to remember that I promised to be in line for the entire season and made a promise to my team. I am committed to my team and will show up every day for practice and every game. It is difficult, but I cannot quit mid-season. Not only am I disappointed by myself, my teammates as well as coaches are also. I won’t quit, and I’m happy I never have. I have enjoyed this season and understood my struggles and I realized that I have had it all. Sometimes, when I’m facing a difficult time, I tell myself: “You committed to the team and you kept it.”

“At times I simply remind myself of my respect for my words, and that others do too. If we stop trying to keep up with the times how can anyone believe me? In this moment, however, another value is important: the family. As a total stranger, I did not even know any of the members. After spending so much of our time with them in school and at practice, we became close friends. I like being with my sisters, not only because I don’t want to disappoint them but also because I do not want to disappoint my family.

If I stop, the bond will be changed. It is something I would never want, as I hold those girls in high regard and don’t wish to damage their relationship. I want to abandon my family, my job and even my health.

Through this sport I have learned so much about myself and my health. I learned how important it is to eat well and exercise, especially before a big match. By doing different exercises, I was able to learn how the body reacts and how best to train for a particular sport. In order to stop smoking, I am going to put my knowledge into practice and not just treat myself. The exercises and timetables that I follow (including my competitions, exercises, and training) are not only good for my health but also my rights.

Not only am I learning, but also enjoying myself. I’m learning details about a sport that I didn’t know existed in highschool. I’m learning how to be a team player and interact with other people. I am learning the importance of maintaining a friendly relationship with my teammates and competing fairly. The moment I leave, my education stops halfway. I never complete the lesson. And I am always thinking, if only I stayed, what could I do? Learning is my passion, and I feel bad for not having retained all that I had learned.

In this case, I am shown all of my values. It may take me a while to realize that I am following these values, but I do need to. If I leave the team mid-season, I’ll return to my commitment. My education won’t be completed if I quit this year.
