A GUIDE TO PASSING YOUR NURSING JURISPRUDENCE EXAM

To become a licensed Practical Nurse in Canada, you will need to pass the jurisprudence exams. This step is independent from CPRNE and NCLEX, but it’s a way to evaluate your knowledge about the nursing laws, guidelines and practice standards in the country.

Learn more about this topic by reading on.

EXAM COMMON COMPONENTS

There are many similarities between the components of the nursing examination and the jurisprudence test.

You may be asked to:

  • Standard nursing practices.
  • Moral principles
  • Nurse-patient dynamics
  • Nursing guidelines
  • Responsibility is taking responsibility for one’s actions.

Test Format

The level of difficulty in a jurisprudence course is normally divided. One exam will assess your theoretical and practical knowledge. Another will test your performance or intervention when faced with more complex situations.

The nature of the exam

You will be required to complete 150 multiple-choice question within three hours in the jurisprudence test. You only have a minute for each question. So, it’s best to be prepared.

A second thing you can do is to read the content ahead of time so you’ll know where to go when you run into a problem. Keep the information that is difficult to understand open in a tab nearby for faster access.

The right time to write the exam

You can sit the jurisprudence examination before or after your CPRNE/NCLEX. This exam is recommended first because of two reasons.

  • It prepares you to take the exam.
  • No limit to the number of attempts.

If you want to minimize exam-day anxiety, start with an easier exam.
