Mark Zuckerberg: Co-founder Of The Social-networking Website Facebook

Mark Zuckerberg was created in White Plains on May 14, 1984. He is one of the youngest billionaires in the world and co-founded the social-networking site Facebook. Edward Zuckerberg was his dad and their house was home to his dental office. Before their children were born, his mother Karen was a psychiatrist.

Mark Zuckerberg was blessed with 3 sisters: Randi and Donna. Arielle was Arielle’s sister. After being raised Jewish, he was ordained a Bar Mitzvah. At an early age, he was able to write programs and use computers. His father taught him Atari BASIC Programming. Then he created a messaging program called “Zucknet” using Atari BASIC. Zucknet was used to communicate with the rest of the family. Zuckerberg was not the only one. He was a great student in all his classes. He was accepted to a very prestigious private school in New Hampshire. He won awards in mathematics, astronomy and physics during his junior year. He said that he could write and read Hebrew, Latin, Greek, and French before applying to college. Zuckerberg began Harvard classes and was already a “reputation for being a programming prodigy”. He took courses in computer science and psychology. He created Course Match, his sophomore year. He later created Facemash, another program that allowed students the ability to choose from a number of photos who were the best-looking. Arie, his roommate, stated that he designed the site as a fun project. It was fun to create programs back then. His roommate explained that Face Books were books that included names and photos of all students who lived in student dorms. The site was initially two photos. It could have been two males or two women. The site was popularized by visitors who had to vote for the “hottest” person. Harvard closed it down the next Monday. Because the site was so large, one Harvard WiFi didn’t allow students access to the internet. Some students also complained that they were able to use their images and other information without their permission. Zuckerberg created a new website in the January 2004 semester. Zuckerberg launched “Thefacebook” on February 4, 2004.

Zuckerberg and friends developed a website that allowed users to upload photos and create profiles. The site was managed by the group from their Harvard dorm. Zuckerberg quit college his sophomore year in order to focus full time on Facebook. In Palo Alto California, he moved his company. Facebook had 1,000,000 users at the end, which is quite amazing.

Accel Partners was a large investor in Zuckerberg’s venture capital fund. Accel invested $12.7million in the network. It was initially only available to students of the ivy League. By December 2005, the site had more users than ever before. He was not interested in selling his company so he declined offers from Yahoo! He also turned down offers from companies like Yahoo! Instead, he worked to expand the site, make it more accessible for developers outside of his company, and add new features.
